# Local inventory on Google and Meta

VenueX Local inventory sends store-level product availability from a retailer's own stock data to Google Merchant Center and Meta. It answers the shopper's question "is it in the store near me?" in Google local inventory ads and in Meta ads that use store availability. The retailer sends three fields per product and store, and VenueX builds, sends and monitors the feeds, daily by default.

## Who it is for

Local inventory is for multi-location retailers that sell the same products online and in physical stores, and that advertise on Google or Meta. The teams that use it are usually e-commerce, performance marketing and omnichannel teams.

## What VenueX does

- Builds a local inventory feed from the retailer's stock data.
- Matches each product ID to the retailer's Merchant Center product feed, at variant level (for example, per size and colour).
- Aligns the store codes in the stock data with the store codes on the retailer's store profiles.
- Sends the feed to Google Merchant Center and to the Meta catalog, every day.
- Shows each import with its status, and the number of published, rejected and pending items.
- The VenueX team reviews rejected items and fixes the causes with the retailer's team.

VenueX is software and an operated service together. The software runs the feed. The VenueX team does the setup and the follow-up work.

## How it works

1. **Send stock data.** The source can be an ERP or order management system, the per-store stock shown on the retailer's website, click-and-collect data, or a Google Sheet. Transfer is by API, SFTP or file.
2. **Map the fields.** Each row has a product ID, a store code and the availability: in stock or out of stock.
3. **Align products and stores.** The platforms join stock to a product by product ID and to a store by store code. The product ID must be the same as in the Merchant Center product feed. The store code must be the same as on the store profile. For example, stock coded "1071" does not show at a store whose profile code is "IST-1071". VenueX aligns the codes during setup.
4. **Send the feed.** VenueX generates the local inventory feed and sends it to Google Merchant Center and Meta. Updates run daily by default. More frequent updates are available on request.
5. **Monitor and fix.** The retailer sees each import with its published, rejected and pending items. The VenueX team works through rejected items with the retailer.

## Data needed

| Field | What it is | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Product ID | The product's ID in the Merchant Center product feed | One ID per variant, for example per size and colour |
| Store code | The store's code in the retailer's systems | Must match the store code on the store profile |
| Availability | In stock or out of stock | Stock levels are not needed |

Before the first feed goes out, the retailer needs:

- A working Google Merchant Center product feed with item IDs at variant level. Local inventory adds store availability to products that are already in this feed.
- Google store profiles (Google Business Profile) linked to the Merchant Center account.
- A Meta catalog, for local inventory on Meta.
- A person on the retailer's side who decides the low-stock threshold.
- Partner-level access for VenueX to Merchant Center and to the Meta catalog, given through OAuth.

## Platforms

| Platform | What VenueX manages | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Google | The local inventory feed in Google Merchant Center | Used for Google local inventory ads. Store codes must match the Google store profiles. |
| Meta | Store availability in the Meta catalog | Used for Meta dynamic ads for retail. Store codes must match the stores on Meta. |

## What the retailer controls

- **The low-stock threshold.** The retailer decides when a product counts as in stock. For example, a product can show as in stock only when two or more are left, so shoppers do not make a trip for the last item.
- **The accounts.** Merchant Center, the Meta catalog and the store profiles stay in the retailer's name. VenueX uses partner-level access and does not take admin control.
- **The data.** The retailer sends data by API, SFTP or file. VenueX does not connect to the retailer's ERP, databases or production systems.
- **The content of the feed.** The feed holds product IDs, store codes and availability. It holds no customer data.

## What the retailer sees

- The source connection and the time of the last import.
- The status of each import.
- The number of published, rejected and pending items, and the success rate.

## Customer result: Boyner

Boyner is a department store chain in Türkiye with 126 stores. At launch, Boyner connected 126 stores and 208,000+ products with VenueX to its ad platforms. Product availability by store goes to Google Merchant Center and Meta, so local inventory ads show only items that are in stock. Boyner also sends store sales through VenueX online-to-offline measurement. There, Boyner saw 3× offline vs online ROAS: offline ROAS was 3× online ROAS.

## Not supported

- Local inventory on Apple Maps, Yandex, TikTok or Snap is not supported. Local inventory runs on Google and Meta.
- Management of the Merchant Center product feed itself (titles, prices, images) is not supported. The product feed stays with the retailer.
- A store stock widget for the retailer's own website is not supported.
- Recommendations on which products, stores or campaigns to advertise based on stock are not supported.

## Questions buyers ask

### Do you need our stock counts?

No. In stock or out of stock per product and store is enough. The retailer decides the threshold at which a product counts as in stock.

### We already have a product feed. Is that enough?

No. A product feed lists what the retailer sells. A local inventory feed says which store has each product. VenueX builds the local inventory feed from the retailer's stock data and links it to the existing product feed by product ID.

### Must our store codes match?

Yes. Google and Meta place stock in a store by its store code. If the stock data and the store profile use different codes, the item does not show at that store. VenueX aligns the codes during setup.

### Which formats do you accept, and how often does stock update?

API, SFTP or file, and Google Sheets. The feed updates daily by default. More frequent updates are available on request.

### Is it safe to share stock data with Google and Meta?

Google and Meta receive availability per product and store. Stock levels are not needed, and the feed holds no customer data. The accounts stay in the retailer's name.

### What happens when an item sells out?

The item shows as out of stock at that store after the next feed update. A low-stock threshold lowers the chance that a shopper travels for the last item.

### How does local inventory relate to store presence?

Local inventory depends on correct store profiles, because Google and Meta match stock to stores by store code. VenueX Store presence keeps store details correct on Google, Apple Maps, Meta and Yandex.

### How is it priced?

Pricing is set per customer, by the modules used and the number of stores. There is no setup fee.
